Desperate Housewife..I Think Not.

Is it bad that I don't know how to use my own vacuum? I just tried to vacuum something and I couldn't even find the power button. Embarassing!

Long time, no post. I promise I'll get back on it this week. Lots to blog about- including why I needed the vacuum.

*Disclaimer: Yes, I do vacuum my house. We have two vacuums- one big and one mini. The big one is obviously new to me.

I Should Have Worn Sequins

Last night my friend Jessica and I went to see Britney Spears!! I'll be honest, I do like some of her new songs and was REALLY excited for the show. Notice that I'm calling it a show not a concert because she definitely didn't sing live, but it was still an AMAZING show.

One of the perks of my job is that I manage our company suite at the Sprint Center (new arena in KC). Someone on my team has to host all the events in the suite. Jessica offered to host and brought me along as her 'guest.' The suite is in a great location in the middle of the arena. Britney's stage took up the whole floor of the arena and we had the perfect view of all the action.

Every single seat in the arena was full. It was a mad-house of girls running around. Jessica and I came straight from work and changed into jeans and black tops- so original I know :). I definitely felt like an old maid compared to all the teens decked out in there sequins. Haha. If Britney makes another comeback (isn't this like her 3rd??), please remind me to not look like an Old Maid and wear my sequins.

Miss Britney Spears!!

Opening Act- The Pussy Cat Dolls
They were great as well. I love their new song from Slum Dog Millionaire.
Britney's opening act.
Very cool. She came down from the ceiling.

Part of her Circus Act

This is what Britney did most of the show. Kind of just posed and walked around. She danced a little, definitely didn't sing, and had a lot of costume changes. Still a GREAT show!

Jess and me. A little conservative for the crowd :).
I forgot my camera so Jessica had to use her old one (her new one was stolen) and when we got to the concert, I mean show, we realized her flash was broken. This explains the quality of our pictures. Better than nothing though.
I'm sure if we had shiny sequins on, we would show up more on camera...
If Britney is coming to your area (and you're older than 13..some was a little risque..Seriously, what am I 25 going on 42??)- I would definitely recommend seeing the show!

It's been a while...and Birthday Wishes!

I know it's been about a week since I last posted. I guess I've been kind of busy and haven't had anything exciting to post. My sister, Whitney, said she's 'bored with me'. So, here you go Will (Whitney's nickname)..a new post!!

This weekend we have a couple of b-day celebrations. Our good friend Rollie is turning the big 3-0 this weekend! Chris said he couldn't believe he "has a pal who is 30". I told Chris that almost 27 is not that far off..we're old. I'll post how the Surprise party goes. It's at a sports bar and KU is playing tonight. I'm praying that KU wins so I don't have a grumpy roommate all weekend.

Our niece, Jadon, is also turning 6 this weekend. I can't wait to go out get a girly gift!

And PLEASE say your prayers for me (I mean us) this weekend. We are getting a huge Spring Snow storm tomorrow. I thought we were in the clear...not quite yet.

Enjoy some photos with a couple other upcoming birthday wishes for loved ones!

Chris and the b-day boy. Emily (Rollie's wife) and I like to call this 'Bromance'

Happy Birthday Brooke! Brooke is my amazing sister-in-law. If you know Brooke and Nick at all, this picture (taken at our wedding) does a pretty good job describing them. Praise God Nick was lucky enough to find someone like Brooke. She's the perfect fit to our family.

Happy Birthday Cayla and Christian!! Christian and Cayla are my not-so-young cousins. I am so sorry I only have a picture of Cayla. Will someone in my family PLEASE send me updated pics of my cousins, you know, so they can make me feel really old :).
Cayla and Christian- Have a great Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Aunt Noel. It's the big 34!! Just kidding :)
Noel is obviously my mom's sister (also looks a lot like yours truly) and Christian and Cayla's mom.
Hope everyone has great Birthday's in the next couple of days.
I'll be thinking of you and please think of me when snow is up to the top of my Uggs.

To be 3 Again...

I am SO close with my extended family and really miss spending time with my cousins. Now that I've moved to the Midwest, I miss out on some of the little fun things with my family- birthday parties, sports tournaments, fun dinners, holidays, etc.

I'm so blessed that Chris' family is very close as well. I have really enjoyed spending time with my nieces and nephews. This past Monday was Vince's (Chris' sister's son) 3rd Birthday. Not all the family was in town because of Spring Break but we had a great family dinner/party at Julie's house.

It's actaully really neat that March 16 is Vince's birthday- It was also Chris' dad's birthday.

Oh to be 3 again!!

The Birthday Boy. He made his '3' hat at school last week.

My God-Daughter, Loren. Too Precious!
I had the pleasure of baby-sitting Loren all day last Saturday. She was really good. She only became a little fussy when we were pretty well into our walk. So, I did what any other non-mother would do...took her out of the stroller and carried her all the way home. Haha. And I forgot to pack a passy, bottle, etc. Oh well- lesson learned.

The Johnson Family-
Denny, Audrey, Vince, and Reese.

I LOVE this picture. Vince was already digging into his cake!

Sweet Vince.

Loren and me.
Jadon (Loren's 5 yr. old sister) actually took this picture.

Vince is opening the gift we got him- a new outdoor swing. It's one of those disc swings. Chris wanted to keep it for our backyard. I'm pretty sure I'm over the weight limit though :)

Sisters--Jadon and Loren!

March Book Club

Every month I look forward to book club. I love getting together with my friends, discussing the book (and which current day actors we picture playing the characters of the book..haha), and having a great dinner. Whitney picked out the book and hosted this month.

The husbands have started their own 'book club' night as well. It consists of going to someones house or a sports bar. And let's be honest here, I'm sure the guys enjoy a night away from us.

Here was this month's book...
I really wasn't a big fan of this book. It was about a very disfunctional family. My family is actually very normal compared to this family :)! Even though I didn't enjoy the book, I liked hearing all of my friends' thoughts on the book. I guess that's what book club is all about.
Bottom line..I wouldn't recommend The Glass Castle.

Whitney used her wedding china for dinner. Very elegant :)

We had chicken fajitas for dinner.

Brooke and me. It was Brooke's first book club!
We let it slide that she didn't read the book. I think she only had about two weeks notice.

Whitney and Emily

Annie and Lindsey

Whitney and her sisters started a company called The Cookie Sheet. They make really cute sugar cookies for showers, parties, etc. Whitney needed to make two dozen for a shower that Annie and Lindsey were going to. She made them while we were all there and we watched in awe as she decorated.
Side note...I gave up sweets for Lent but all the other girls said the cookies were delicious! Whitney is making me my own plate for Easter :).

The precious cookies!

The damage at the end of the evening.
What happened to Whitney's clean table??
Our next book is called Water for Elephants..I'll keep you posted!

He Gets it from Chris

Before you get down to the pictures let me put in a little disclaimer..we are not HUGE partiers.

The below pictures would suggest otherwise. Yes, we do go out and have a lot of fun with our friends but we're not too crazy.

Chris' best friend Brian was in KC last weekend. Brian has been traveling the world for about a year and a half. We were so excited to hang out with him last weekend. AND my sister was in town as well! So, needless to say, we had a busy weekend.

Chris, Andy, Brian, and Steve
Now let's get to Snickers...
A couple of weeks ago Chris and I were out with Emily and Rollie at a sports bar watching some games. Like most bars, they had a couple of very conservatively dressed (Ha!!) tequila reps passing out drinks. They also passed out some free shot glasses. I put mine in my purse to take home and then threw it in the trash.
We all know the saying "One man's (woman's) trash is another man's (pup) treasure.
The pictures speak for themselves...

Planning his escape downstairs with his new treasure.

Enjoying it with his favorite toy.

Licking it clean!! This one is the best!
Again- there was never any liquid in these glass. I guess dog's don't care what is actually in the glass..

Tired from his 10 minutes of 'partying'.
Happy Friday Everyone!!
